Asian American

Share Philly’s Asian American Heritage

Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans account for nearly 7% of Philadelphia’s total population and reflect a wide diversity of cultures and languages, including 25 distinct ethnic communities in our city alone.

Home to the only Chinatown in Pennsylvania and second oldest on the East Coast, the Chinese American population is our largest ethnic community at nearly 30,000. Indian Americans make up the second largest population, followed by Vietnamese Americans, and Cambodian Americans.

Visit the bustling Chinatown business district just one block East of the Convention Center for world class shopping, nightlife, and restaurants featuring cuisines from Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, Myanmar, and several distinct regions of China. Also, explore the diverse Southeast Asian business community just a few blocks away from the Italian Market in South Philly.
