  • Sept. 9 - Nov. 15
  • Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney announced the inaugural Philadelphia International Unity Cup, a soccer tournament that celebrates the rich cultural diversity of the City of Brotherly Love through the worldwide appeal of soccer. The 32-team World Cup-style soccer tournament will be composed mainly of diverse immigrant groups across Philadelphia. The Parks and Recreation Department is coordinating the 63 matches, which will be played at recreation center fields throughout the city. The championship game will take place Nov. 5 at Citizens Bank Park. All games are free and open to the public.

  • Sept. 22
  • Top American hockey prospects eligible for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft will showcase their talents as the Philadelphia Flyers and Wells Fargo Center have been selected to host the fifth annual CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game. To date, 74 alumni of the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game have been drafted into the NHL, highlighted by 15 first-round selections.

  • Sept. 23
  • For the fifth straight year, the Army and Navy men’s soccer teams will square off in what is sure to be another nail-biter at Talen Energy Stadium (formerly PPL Park), home of the Philadelphia Union. Come be a part of the rivalry and excitement!


  • Oct. 7-9
  • The 2016 ITTF Women’s World Cup will be held in the United States for the first time ever, as the International Table Tennis Federation announced that USA Table Tennis has been selected to host the prestigious event. The state-of-the-art Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University will host the World Cup, which features the best 20 women’s table tennis players on Earth. This will be the first time an ITTF World Cup singles event has been hosted on North American soil.


  • Oct. 6-15, 2016
  • Drexel University will host the 2016 U.S. Open Squash Championships, the most prestigious squash tournament in the country at the newly renovated Daskalakis Athletic Center in downtown Philadelphia.

  • Nov. 18-20, 2016
  • The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) will host the 2016 #ECACD3FBFEST at Franklin Field, marking the second year in a row the Conference will hold its Division III Football Bowl Championships at a neutral site. The event, which will take place on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania, will feature 12 teams competing in six bowl games across three days in what is becoming one of the Conference’s marquee championship events. Games are tentatively scheduled for 3 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18; noon and 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19; and noon and 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20.
