Recognized globally for excellence and quality, the MICHELIN Guide offers a selection of world-class restaurants, evaluated according to its rigorous standards.

  • The famous One, Two and Three MICHELIN Stars identify establishments serving exceptional cuisine that’s rich in flavor, remarkably executed and infused with the personality of a talented chef.
  • The Bib Gourmand is a designation given to select restaurants that offer good quality food for a good value – often known as personal favorites among the inspectors when dining on their own time.
  • The MICHELIN Green Star honors restaurants that are pioneers in sustainable gastronomy.
  • Recommended restaurants and special professional awards are also highlighted by the MICHELIN Guide inspectors.

“This year marks a momentous occasion for the Northeast Cities to come together and celebrate the exceptional talent across the restaurant communities in these five cities,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide. “We are thrilled to celebrate the first-ever selections in both Boston and Philadelphia and welcome several new restaurants into the MICHELIN Star family. Our anonymous Inspectors were able to witness and taste the passion these industry professionals brought to the table. Congratulations to all the chefs and restaurant teams honored tonight.”

“Hosting the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony is a major win for Philadelphia, providing global culinary recognition while driving increased visitor demand and new business for the city,” said Gregg Caren, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB). “Our responsibility is to attract travelers from around the world for major events and overnight stays and food tourism continues to factor large in trip planning.”

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker agreed, “Philadelphia’s debut in the MICHELIN Guide is a tremendous milestone for our city. The recognition honors the extraordinary creativity and dedication of our chefs, restaurateurs, and hospitality professionals who have built one of the most diverse and dynamic dining communities in the nation. The MICHELIN Guide’s recognition elevates our global profile, strengthens our tourism economy, and shines a light on the neighborhoods and cultures that define Philadelphia’s unique culinary identity. We look forward to building on this momentum and ensuring that the opportunities it brings reach every neighborhood our city.”

In May 2025, the PHLCVB announced a multi-year partnership with the MICHELIN Guide which would allow Philadelphia’s restaurants and chefs to be considered for inclusion in the renowned global dining guidebook. As a result of that partnership, the MICHELIN Guide announced that Philadelphia would be added to the Northeast Cities alongside Boston, Chicago, New York City, and Washington, D.C. This announcement was also made in Philadelphia, with Poullennec appearing at the Barnes Foundation with Mayor Parker and Josh Shapiro, Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. At that event, Poullennec praised the “passion, talent, and camaraderie” of Philadelphia’s culinary community.
