August 17, 2020

Kelly Blecke joins the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) as the Senior National Account Director focused on the Washington, D.C. area.

In 2019, the PHLCVB drove over $600 million in economic impact from group sales and the D.C. market was critically important to this success. The organization maintains sales staff in Chicago, Connecticut, Dallas, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.

“Over one third of all hotel room nights consumed in Philadelphia in 2019 were from the group market, underscoring the importance of this tourism and hospitality segment,” said Kavin Schieferdecker, Senior Vice President of Sales for the PHLCVB. “The Washington, D.C. market is critical to our success, so it was important we filled this role with a superstar who has a proven record of established relationships and the ability to secure business for her destinations.”

Kelly Blecke has 20 years of hotel sales experience and will represent Philadelphia in the Washington, D.C. area. In her most recent position as the Market Senior Account Executive at the JW Marriott Indianapolis Blecke was focused on the Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland association and corporate markets. In this position she was responsible for driving $6 million in annual hotel sales and exceeded sales goals annually.

“As our industry navigates the new standard in meetings and events, I am excited to join a team and city that is a demonstrated leader during this challenging time,” said Blecke. “Having lived in Maryland much of my life, I have a deep appreciation for Philadelphia, have seen the amazing transformation for meetings and conventions over the years and can’t wait to begin making an impact.”

Prior to her role with JW Marriott, Blecke held sales positions with the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas, and for 13 years, held various sales positions with Marriott International, including a role on their global sales team.

When asked what makes Philadelphia a great meeting and convention destination, Kelly cites, “the drive ability and easy access into the city as well as the walkability and hotel package that gives attendees so many options.” Looking forward to “immersing herself in everything Philadelphia has to offer,” Kelly says “deep history and amazing food options” are some of the enticements that lured her to Philadelphia. The best advice she has ever received is, “success is never final.”
