Enhanced cleaning procedures and convenient new amenities present travelers with an enjoyable stay at local hotels
Philadelphia hotels have introduced new protocols, dining options, and digital experiences to provide a healthy and safe experience for all guests. Consider the below tips when planning where to stay.
Utilize Contactless Check-In
Many hotels are now offering contactless check-in, allowing visitors to skip the front desk and head straight to their room after confirming arrival on their mobile device. For example, Hilton properties such as the new Canopy by Hilton Philadelphia Center City and the Inn at Penn in University City utilize the Hilton Honors App, which allows guests to check-in, unlock their room, set the temperature, order room service, and more all via their phones and without having to visit the front desk. Similarly, guests staying at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center – an accredited AAA Five Diamond Hotel – can use the Four Seasons App to request luggage pickup, make spa and restaurant reservations, order room service, and much more, including wait-free check-in and check-out. To see what contactless experiences your hotel offers, consult their website.
Inquire About On-Site Dining
As indoor dining restrictions are lifted, hotels are beginning to re-introduce their on-site dining options, though some may still be temporarily unavailable. Be sure to check your hotel’s website (or call ahead) to see if dining is available on-site or if you should you plan to reserve a table or order take-out or delivery at a nearby restaurant.
TIP: For hotels that typically included breakfast in their rates, be sure to check to see if breakfast is still offered and if so, see if it is presented to-go or boxed to be enjoyed in your room.
Learn About Health Protocols and Housekeeping Options
Health and safety of guests remains a top priority for Philadelphia’s hotel community, with many hotels implementing enhanced cleaning procedures, such as Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar, which has partnered with EcoLab and the Cleveland Clinic to introduce additional measures that further enhance their disinfection protocol in public areas. Some hotels may have also adjusted their housekeeping schedule to reduce the number of times someone enters your room. Many properties allow you to request housekeeping service or opt out, while others currently do not offer it during your stay (all rooms are thoroughly cleaned after each guest departs). Several hotels, like the Sofitel Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square, also feature a 48-hour settling period for rooms between guests. Not sure what your hotel offers? Visit their website or ask the front desk upon arrival.
