The Drexelbrook: A Destination for All of Life’s Events

Always evolving, The Drexelbrook Event Center is not only a premier Delaware County venue, but a destination for visitors across the country. After over 70 years in business, The Drexelbrook has hosted thousands of events, including weddings, galas, concerts, corporate events, proms, fundraisers, and more. Today, The Drexelbrook continues to reach the community through not only hosting events, but by providing a local restaurant and hotel.

A Profound History

At the start back in 1950, The Drexelbrook was originally The Drexelbrook Country Club. Older generations remember swimming in the Drexelbrook pool in the summer or skating on the ice rink during the winter. The club also had lodging rooms and restaurants. Their popularity boomed when Drexelbrook hosted American Bandstand with Ed McMahon and Dick Clark. Dick Clark and his wife even lived in the Drexelbrook Apartment Community at the time. Since then, many celebrities have come to visit The Drexelbrook. Even President George W. Bush visited in 2004 for a fundraiser.

The Drexelbrook Today

Today, the Drexelbrook has expanded into a multifaceted facility. Far from its country club days, Drexelbrook still has a deep connection in the community. With over 45,000 square feet of flexible event space, there are options for every possibility. The iconic Drexelbrook Mansion stands at the front, with 3 classic ballrooms and a terrace. Traveling through the building or down the lot, you can find the entrance to the Grand Lobby and Ballroom, Drexlebrook’s primary event location. The venue also offers the Franklin Conference Center. The conference center encompasses a collection of boardrooms, lounges, studios, and breakout spaces.

In May of 2019, the Drexelbrook officially opened the attached Holiday Inn & Suites and STREETLIGHT Kitchen & Bar restaurant. The modern hotel perfectly complements the event venue, allowing guests easy attached accommodation. It also allows local travelers a place to stay that is close to Philadelphia and local transport to the city and suburbs.

The Holiday Inn & Suites Philadelphia West is one of a kind. The hotel features 86 spacious rooms, 12 Suites, and 2 Executive Suites. This boutique hotel meets a variety of needs from groups to families to businesses. The hotel offers a fitness center, business center, meeting rooms, complimentary high-speed internet, smart TVs, and dining at STREETLIGHT Kitchen & Bar.

At STREETLIGHT Kitchen & Bar, you get a taste of local food and beverage, and an overview of The Drexelbrook’s history with the restaurant’s artwork. STREETLIGHT has created a name as the neighborhood eatery as well as offering additional event space. The outdoor patio is also a popular spot in warmer months. Guests can enjoy a cozy spot by the firepit, or under an umbrella. With a focus on American-style wood-fired cuisine and local beer and spirits, STREETLIGHT gives an authentic taste of Delaware County and Philadelphia.

With over 70 years of history, The Drexelbrook continues to move forward as an ingrained piece of Delaware County and the Greater Philadelphia area. The Drexelbrook guarantees one thing: a visit to remember.
