This month we introduce Emily Catanzaro, Director of Meeting Services for the American Thoracic Society, whose 2013 International Conference met in Philadelphia for the first time in May.
What made Philadelphia a great location for your meeting?
The Pennsylvania Convention Center and surrounding hotels hosted our program beautifully. ATS 2013 featured more than 5,300 original research projects and case reports, 400 sessions, and 800 speakers.
What has been the response from your attendees?
The staff and attendees appreciated where we placed the sessions, exhibits and special events. The convention center is conveniently located in the heart of the city.
What did your host hotel or PHLCVB representative do to make your Philadelphia experience a satisfactory one?
The headquarter hotels were true partners for on-site execution and we felt they were truly an extension of our team. The PHLCVB gave us attention, respect and remained true professionals throughout the entire year. The PHLCVB truly loves their city and their customers.
Did the services provided by the PHLCVB and the PCC help in increasing attendance and improving the attendee experience? If so how?
Yes, their marketing efforts, which are complimentary, were impressive.
What is your personal favorite thing about Philadelphia?
There is a genuine charm and warmth that can be felt through the vendors, hotel and PHLCVB contacts. Philadelphia has a great team in place for any meeting planner.
Anything else you would like to say about your meeting in Philadelphia?
Thank you for your hard work and dedication to ATS!
