On June 24, 2019, the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, its business development division, PHL Sports, and the City of Philadelphia shared recent updates to Philadelphia’s bid to host games during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. New branding assets were unveiled including a logo, the “Philadelphia 2026, America’s Host City” tagline, and the energetic “Bring It!” rally cry. The group also announced that David L. Cohen (Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Diversity Officer, Comcast) will serve as the Chairman for the city’s Bid Committee.

PHL Diversity has announced that the Diversity & Inclusion Conference will return in 2020. The event, presented by Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, Temple University’s School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and LODGING Magazine, welcomed over 350 leaders in the hospitality and tourism industries, who participated in a number of networking and educational events surrounding the theme of diversity and inclusion, including think tanks, breakout sessions, a general session, receptions, and a series of round table discussions.

The PHLCVB earns valuable exposure for Philadelphia by positioning the city to journalists from across the globe as a top overseas travel destination and a premier place to visit. In 2018, more than 1650 stories from 18 overseas countries were published about Philadelphia. These stories were featured in both consumer & trade media.
Throughout June, the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted a total of 12 media from five countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. The journalists were provided with itineraries curated to the interests of potential visitors from their respective markets. The groups represent a variety of outlets including national newspapers, blogs and magazines, and will be producing destination stories to help inspire potential visitors to book travel to Philadelphia.
The journalists from Italy and Germany visited Philadelphia to help promote American Airlines’ new routes from Bologna and Berlin. During his time in the city, the Bolognese journalist met with Consul General of Italy to Philadelphia, Honorable Pier Forlano, and participated in an Italian Market Immersion tour to research Italian influence in the city.
Activities from the press trips included tours of the Rail Park, Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Core Project, Yards Brewing Co., Love City Brewing, The Barnes Foundation, and Mural Arts Philadelphia, as well as meals at popular Philadelphia restaurants and sites, including Reading Terminal Market.

This PHLCVB Global Tourism team sales mission to the New York City region to visit and train receptive tour operators (RTOs) from the Asian and European markets will take place the week of August 19.
Interested partners should expect a tiered co-op cost structure and can mix & match how they would like to participate, i.e. join sales calls and close with the RTO reception, open with the RTO reception and then join sales calls, or do everything. More information in the coming weeks.

If you have just one primary space, you can update the fields at the bottom for “Banquet Sit Down Capacity” and “Reception Stand Up Capacity.”
