NJ’s Official Tall Ship A.J. Meerwald will offer public and educational sails along the Delaware River this July, departing from Independence Seaport Museum (ISM) docks at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia. Experience history aboard this authentically restored 1928 Delaware Bay oyster schooner. Help hoist the sails or sit back and relax. Once aboard, the crew shares the boat’s rich maritime history, the sh ... ellfish industry along the Delaware River and Bay, and the culture of those who lived and worked in the industry. The cost of a public sail ticket is $50, charters are available as well as educational sails for youth organizations and nonprofits. Donations are appreciated and will help support New Jersey’s official Tall Ship, the state’s very own historic oyster schooner. Delaware River Sail Schedule: Weekly Public Sails June 30th through July 23rd Thurs: 6-8 pm | Fri: 6-8 pm Sat: 10-12 noon, 3-5 pm & 6-8 pm Sun: 3-5 pm & 6-8 pm Sunset Sails Wednesday – Sunday 6 pm – 8 pm Education Sails – Saturdays, 10 am -12 pm include hands-on stations and a river trawl. Also available for youth organizations & non-profits Charter Sails available – Capacity of 50 passengers All are welcomed to come sailing on the oyster schooner A.J. Meerwald to experience history, the environment, and adventure. Tickets may be purchased at BayshoreCenter.org The Bayshore Center at Bivalve (BCB) is excited to work in association with the Independence Seaport Museum in an effort to foster an appreciation of history and culture within the community surrounding the Delaware Bay and River.
