Congress Hall

The U.S. Senate and U.S House of Representatives met here.

Between 1790 and 1800, Philadelphia served as the capital of the United States. The House of Representatives and Senate met here at Congress Hall. This building was the site of George WashingtonÆs second inauguration, and the transfer of power to John Adams as second president.
