The nation’s first hospital, founded in 1751 by Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond in now one of America’s foremost medical centers. A tour of the hospital’s historic Pine Building includes the nation’s first surgical amphitheater and medical library; artworks by Sully, Eakins, and Benjamin West. Self-guided tours are available weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm. Guided tours must be arranged in advance.
