members are welcoming and dedicated servants of God. We work
constantly to enrich our faith, enhance our membership through
evangelism, and service the community through our Soup Kitchen. We
have Christ-Servant ministers who visit the sick and infirm, lead
worship services, and provide encouragement to all. History Founded
in 1837, Tindley has a rich legacy of excellent gospel music,
inspirational preaching, and community service. Dr. Charles Albert
Tindley, a pastor of the church during the Depression years, is
known as the ‘Father of Gospel Music’. Dr. Tindley composed more
than 60 hymns, songs such as ‘Stand by Me’, Leave It There, and
We’ll Understand It Better By and By.
