John Wanamaker Athletic Award Winners


The John Wanamaker Athletic Award is presented to the athlete, team or organization which has done the most to reflect credit upon Philadelphia and to the team or sport in which they excel.

The Robert P. Levy Community Service Award is presented to the individual, business or organization which has done the most to contribute to the quality of life in Philadelphia through sports.

NCAA Champion Villanova Wildcats Named Wanamaker Award Winners

The Villanova Wildcats basketball team was awarded the 2016 John Wanamaker Athletic Award at a PHL Sports luncheon June 22.

Past Wanamaker Award recipients have included Mike Schmidt, Julius Erving, Joe Frazier and Dawn Staley.

In addition, Philadelphia City Rowing was awarded the Robert P. Levy Community Service Award, and Rahim Thompson of The Chosen League received the City of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Department’s Sports Volunteer of the Year award.

The luncheon is hosted annually by PHL Sports, in partnership with CBS3 and the Daily News.
