Philadelphia Edutourism

About this Photo

Greater Philadelphia is home to more colleges and universities than almost any other region in the United States. These schools provide some of the most highly ranked undergraduate and graduate programs for international students in the world. The best way to learn about these programs is by seeing the campuses, meeting fellow international students and hearing first-hand about programs of study.

The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) and Campus Philly offer students the chance to experience life at our colleges and universities through tours of campuses in the city and suburbs. From the world-renowned University of Pennsylvania to beautiful colleges on Philadelphia’s Main Line, students will receive guided tours of campus, meet with admissions officers and be able to talk with current students. College and university tours include libraries, science and sport facilities, dormitories and many other campus features and buildings. Students will have the opportunity to ask about the admissions process and requirements at each school and receive advice about the best chances for college acceptance.

And, because Philadelphia is really one big campus, visiting students will experience the culture, international flare and beauty of the city as a whole. Each day, after campus visits, your tour will include visits to museums, restaurants and historic sites in Philadelphia.

To make the most of the visit, three to five campus tours and an equal number of museum and cultural experiences will be built into this itinerary lasting three days/four nights to five days/six nights.

Philadelphia’s colleges and universities also provide a variety of summer experiences for students. From English language programs on campus to sports and academic courses, many colleges and universities provide high school and current college students from abroad and across the country with the opportunity to experience life first-hand on a local college campus.

In addition to meeting faculty, experiencing college life and learning more about the city through Philadelphia’s extraordinary historical and cultural attractions, students participating in these summer programs will have the opportunity to become familiar with college and university admissions for undergraduate and graduate programs at their host university.

Summer camp experiences vary in length, focus area and location in the Greater Philadelphia region. The PHLCVB and Campus Philly can create an experience that suits a wide variety of tastes and interests. These summer camp experiences will enrich students academically and culturally, providing strong connections to host colleges and universities, to other international students and to Philadelphia’s rich historical and cultural offerings.

The Philadelphia region is home to some of the most prominent training, education and certification programs for professionals. Renowned for its science and health programs, Philadelphia institutions have trained a quarter of all physicians in the United States.

And, Philadelphia is home to the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, which offers the longest running custom executive education program in the country, serving more than 10,000 executives each year. Wharton’s Executive Education programs offer customized experiences for executives in a wide variety of business areas and include on-campus housing, translated instruction, and some of the best faculty in the world.

Certificate programs in other fields are available at a number of regional universities in a wide variety of fields, including healthcare, science and technology, liberal arts and business.  Working through the PHLCVB and Campus Philly, you can create an educational experience in Philadelphia for professionals interested in updating their skills, expanding their networks, experiencing the highest quality instruction.

Because these programs are customized, they can take place at various times of the year and for varied lengths of time.  Some are as short as a week and others as long as a semester.  Some programs include translated instruction and others take place in English.
