The eyes of the vibrant island of Curaçao and the global football community will soon be fixed on Philadelphia as The Blue Wave takes the pitch for the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ at Philadelphia Stadium.
With the Dutch Caribbean nation set to play Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, June 25, in Group E play, we invite Curaçaoan fans to discover why the City of Brotherly Love is the perfect host for the beautiful game.

While specific population data for Dutch Caribbean natives in Philadelphia is limited, the city is home to approximately 30,000 residents of Caribbean descent and thousands more with deep ancestral ties to the islands.
The fashion, food, music, and spirit of this vibrant community are on full display every summer along the Delaware River Waterfront. Now in its 40th year, the 2026 Philadelphia Caribbean Festival—scheduled for Aug. 16—serves as a cornerstone of the city’s cultural calendar.
Looking for a taste of the Caribbean while in town? While there are no exclusively Curaçaoan restaurants in the region, several local spots feature the hearty stews, fresh seafood, and savory stuffed cheeses—reminiscent of the island’s famous Keshi Yena—that fans will find familiar.
Key spots include West Philly’s 48th Street Grille (310 S 48th St.), Germantown’s Grill ‘N’ Dutchy (5522 Germantown Ave.), and Northeast Philly’s Shana’s Caribbean Café (6615 Martins Mill Rd.).
Ranked No. 82 in the world, Curaçao embraces the role of the underdog as it makes its historic first appearance in the Men’s World Cup. The Blue Wave’s push for its first-ever tournament victory runs directly through the heart of Philadelphia.
Lincoln Financial Field—temporarily renamed Philadelphia Stadium for the duration of the tournament—will be the epicenter of the action with these highly-anticipated matches:
Philadelphia will celebrate throughout the tournament with the first-ever FIFA Fan Festival™ at Lemon Hill within the city’s vast Fairmount Park—the largest landscaped park system in the United States.

This citywide celebration of soccer, a.k.a. football, will span the entire 39-day tournament, from June 11 to July 19.
According to organizers, “Fans will enjoy live match broadcasts, music, cultural performances, local food vendors, and interactive activities in a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.”
We hope this guide helps you feel right at home in the City of Brotherly Love. Whether you are here for the matches or the atmosphere or all of the above, we wish you an unforgettable stay.
