Philadelphia to host WrestleMania® XL

In 2024, Philadelphia will be “The Grandest Stage of Them All” as the city welcomes WrestleMania® XL. A week-long celebration of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) will take over Philadelphia, with the main event at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, 2024. With a sports fanbase as passionate as Philadelphia’s joining forces with WWE’s worldwide following, hosting WrestleMania® XL is a match made in heaven.

WrestleMania® XL

Philadelphia will host six major events at three venues over five days during WrestleMania® week. Friday Night SmackDown®, the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony®, and Monday Night Raw® will be held at Wells Fargo Center. WWE will also host multiple community outreach events, including hospital visits and Be a STAR® bullying prevention rallies to give back to the region.

The Pennsylvania Convention Center will be the home of WWE World at WrestleMania® throughout the week. The five-day immersive fan experience will occur from April 4 to April 8 and offer a variety of engaging activities. Standout events include roundtable discussions with top WWE Superstars, a WWE 2K24 gaming tournament, live podcast recordings, and extensive memorabilia and autograph sales.

WrestleMania® XL’s economic impact on Philadelphia

Over 90,000 tickets were sold for these events just hours after they went on sale last August. The ticket sales set a new WrestleMania® record for first-day ticket sales, surpassing WWE’s previous all-time gate record of $21.5 million.

WrestleMania® has a history of bringing in an incredible amount of revenue for its host cities —the economic impact of which rivals hosting a Super Bowl. WWE says WrestleMania® has generated more than $1.25 billion in cumulative economic impact for cities that have hosted the event over the past decade. WrestleMania® 39, held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, generated a record $215 million economic windfall for the region.

WrestleMania® will put Philadelphia on the global stage this spring as total attendance at all WrestleMania® week events over the course of five days is expected to top 200,000 with 15% to 20% of attendees to be international. WrestleMania® 39 attracted 160,000 fans from all 50 states and 60 countries.

Major events hosted in Philadelphia

PHL Sports, the sports division of the PHLCVB, brought the event to the city with a number of partners, including the Eagles, Wells Fargo Center, the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the City of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia hotel community.  As the WWE’s liaison to the city, PHL Sports helps to connect the event with the area’s key partners, including hotels, restaurants, venues, and attractions.

Of course, Philadelphia is no stranger to big sporting events, as host to the NFL Draft, multiple NCAA Championships, the storied Army-Navy Game and so much more.  2026 will be an epic year, including the PGA Championship, Major League Baseball All-Star Game, NCAA Basketball Tournament and, of course, the FIFA World Cup 26™.
