The city welcomed some of the world’s most iconic football clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Juventus. Lincoln Financial Field hosted eight matches of the FIFA Club World Cup in June and July 2025.
Recently expanded to feature 32 teams, the FIFA Club World Cup™ showcases top clubs from six international confederations, including UEFA, CONMEBOL, and AFC. Philadelphia matches included six group stage games, a round of 16 clash, and a quarterfinal on July 4, 2025. These events were unforgettable for fans that traveled across the world from 120 different countries and all 50 states.
The FIFA Club World Cup™ is a tournament between the best club teams from domestic leagues around the globe. Unlike the FIFA World Cup, which features national teams, this competition celebrates elite squads from six continents, including Europe, South America, and Asia. The 2025 edition marked a new era for the tournament. A new expanded format included 32 teams and matches held across North America from June 14 to July 13, 2025.

The FIFA Club World Cup put Philadelphia in the global spotlight before FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches. “As we gear up for FIFA World Cup 26 in less than 24 months, hosting the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025 is the perfect showcase of our readiness to welcome fans from across the globe,” said Larry Needle, Executive Director of PHL Sports, a division of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Philadelphia’s sports-loving, multicultural community will embrace the chance to see legendary clubs in action, reinforcing our reputation as a global sports hub.”

Lincoln Financial Field, home to the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, offers an unmatched experience for fans. The stadium has a capacity for 67,000 visitors, LED displays, and more than 500 concessions. Located in South Philadelphia, it is easily accessible via public transportation. Lincoln Financial Field has hosted high-profile events such as the 2015 Concacaf Gold Cup, the 2023 English Premier League Summer Series, and WrestleMania XL in 2024. It will also host six thrilling matches during the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

Between June 16 and July 4, Philadelphia hosted eight matches during the FIFA Club World Cup with a combined total attendance of more than 346,000. The city welcomed fans from 120 countries and all 50 states. Out of all tickets sold, 15% were purchased internationally with the top five international markets being Brazil, Canada, Gibraltar, France, and Switzerland.
Philadelphia’s hotels saw a big boost in occupancy during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. During the June 16-28, 2025 match schedule, hotel occupancy increased by 18% compared to the same period in June 2024 (source: Tourism Economics).
